Following our men's cut McNicol Jacket - the very first leather jacket to carry The Bike Shed name - we are delighted to introduce the women's McNicol. We worked with London-based brand and long-time ‘Shed favourite, Goldtop, to create the jackets we had always wanted.
For the Women's iteration we developed an entirely new pattern from the page up. Cut from 1.4mm Aniline cowhide the jacket takes inspiration from the classic, belted, ¾ length four-pocket jackets, but is tailored to a more ride-friendly length. Flap pockets do away with exterior patching to streamline the silhouette while quilted upper arm panels and a mandarin collar complete the details. Both chest pockets feature our custom BSMC stainless steel snaps. The 5-snap ‘placket’ conceals a heavy weight YKK zip with a bespoke BSMC puller. The lowest snap is concealed to protect your tank.
The cuff inserts and inside collar-stand are lined with a colour-matched buttery-soft suede. The dark burgundy quilted lining houses pockets for the included CE level 1 Knox Microlock shoulder, elbow and back armour, plus two extra stash chest-pockets for valuables, the left with a zip.
The McNicol is named in memory of one of our Bike Shed founders, Neil McNicol. His outspoken, often rude and thoroughly inappropriate sense of humour would fill the club with raucous laughter, and he put a smile on the faces of all who were lucky enough to meet him. He also looked very smart in his Goldtop Bobber jacket, and we'd wager he would have carried-off his namesake jacket with equal aplomb. …Cheers Neil.
